Community Rain Barrel Programs

Communities interested in promoting improved residential storm-water management and water conservation can develop customized programs to promote awareness, as a fundraising activity, or for increased community involvement. The Rhode Island Water Lady can work with you to design your program. Please contact Beverly O’Keefe at (401) 486-5389 to discuss the possibilities.
Customized programs include:
Artist Auction Event – use rain barrels as the canvas and invite local artists to paint a rain barrel. Use this one-of-a-kind artwork to raise funds for your organization. Schools and parent-teacher organizations can involve their students in this type of project!
Do-It-Yourself Rain Barrel Project – Rain barrels are not difficult to make! All that is needed is a good drill, drill bits, screening, and plastic fittings. Recycled food barrels can be purchased a deep discounts & transported to your site for this type of project.
Rain Barrel Rebate Program: Public utilities and recycling facilities can subsidize a portion of the cost of a rain barrel. One option would be a ‘Rain Barrel Rebate Program’ where the customer receives a rebate (or credit) – on their monthly bill with proof of purchase. This is an especially effective program when sponsored during July and August – the months of highest outdoor water use.
Truckload Sale - Truckload sales paired with a month-long pre-order program typically results in high sales. Communities and organizations interested in introducing rain barrels should take advantage of this highly efficient method to recycle and distribute rain barrels. Deep discounts are available for truckload sales (8 or more pallets).
